ETCHINGS

During his final years in Mexico, Fritz Riedl regularly devoted himself to etching. Once a week, he worked in a printmaking studio, where many of his etchings were created. The prints reveal his delight in experimenting with line, structure, and contrast. Many of the motifs revisit forms and compositions that also appear in his tapestries and paintings. Etching gave him the opportunity to further develop his visual ideas in another medium and to explore new forms of expression.
